Stakeholder Roundtable – Streets Design Guide

Kansas City received a federal Safe Streets and Roads for All grant in 2023 to assist with planning and policy work around Vision Zero. This project is in alignment with our Vision Zero Action Plan and sets out to accomplish a few things:
- Develop our first Comprehensive Streets Design Guide
- Update our high injury network with the newest crash data
- Modernize the Major Street Plan and update Public Works policies and standards to better incorporate Vision Zero safety principles
- Conduct a citywide speed limit review
- Ultimately, help make systematic changes so that Vision Zero is the easy choice in every transportation decision
We are well underway on the items above and have received valuable feedback so far from our community survey that closed on 9/16, City Council members, city staff, the Vision Zero Task Force, and the public as we attended the second round of Public Improvements Advisory Committee hearings in August.
We are hosting a stakeholder roundtable at Mid-America Regional Council on Thursday, October 31 from 2-3 p.m. to provide an update, continue the discussion about the Streets Design Guide, and gather your input as we move forward with developing the street typologies and design guidance. We hope you can join us!
In-person attendance is encouraged, but we will have a virtual meeting option via Zoom.
